Heli-Coil inserts are precision formed coils of
extremely hard, diamond shaped 304 stainless steel.
When installed into an STI tapped hole, they provide
permanent conventional 60° internal screw threads. Heli-Coil tanged inserts are larger in diameter
before installation than the tapped hole. The nominal length can only be achieved after installation. In its free state, the insert may appear to be more "open" or "compressed". This is due to the wire tension and is not an indication of how long the insert is.
